Greg Jones Band

The Greg Jones Band returns to Idyllwild Jazz in the Pines with a Blues Funk tint to their always high energy R&B dance music. Singer, composer and pianist Jones has entertained Southern California audiences for more than 25 years and will unveil a long awaited new CD this year. Dr. Jones, a Communication Studies professor for Victor Valley College, began writing songs at the age of 12. He is a mentee of the great bassist Marshall Hawkins to whom Jones attributes “any musical insight.” Three rewarding collaborations come in the form of co-writing “34 Million Friends" recorded by legendary folk artist Odetta, the popular “One Race” from his first CD, and a cover of “A Song For Me” featured on his 2nd CD & written by local Blues maestro Rocky Zharp.
